Associate Professor of Biology, Interim Chair of the Biology Department and LSAMP Project Director at Bennett College, Dr. Cristina Moreira is also the Creator and Project Director of the “Sisters & Brothers-in-Science” partnership between Bennett College, the Early/Middle College at Bennett and Aycock Middle School. The goal of this partnership is to increase the number of minorities pursuing a career in science due to the increase in recruitment of high school and middle school students interested in STEM. In recognition of her successful mentoring of students at Bennett, Dr. Moreira was invited to present about mentoring and retention at the 2013 Louis Stokes Midwest Center of Excellence conference, A Call to Action: LSAMP Model for Broadening Participation in STEM.
